Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Jesus gives us hope, and Romans 15:13 builds on what we considered yesterday from verse 4, where we found that one reason for “the Scriptures” is to provide us with real “hope.” Verse 13 says, “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Since God the Holy Spirit specifically inspires all Scripture (II Peter 1:21), we should appreciate “the power of the Holy Ghost” regarding our “believing” unto salvation through faith in God the Son, Jesus Christ. The strong words employed – “fill,” “all,” “abound,” “power” – tell us that our God is intense in His desire for us to find “hope” through His Word. Since He is “the God of hope” and we are His people, it is appropriate that we “abound in hope.”
