Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

We do not know exactly what Jesus will do today, but we do know that He is in the process of saving people, “that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29). Romans 11:25-26a states, “For I would not, brethren, that ye be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved.” This passage tells us that both non-Jewish and Jewish people will be saved through faith in Jesus. We yearn for His return; of course we do, for all of our trials, tribulations, and troubles will then be over. However, we also yearn for others to be gloriously saved. While we wait for Christ’s certain return, then, we can be confident that more people will enter into an eternal relationship with Him. We do not know when “the fulness of the Gentiles” will occur, but we do know that today our Savior continues His blessed work of reaching out to the unsaved and drawing them to Himself.
