Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Revelation 12:17 provides a summary statement regarding Satan’s ongoing animosity against the nation of Israel: “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” We should not lose sight of the millions of miracles that are occurring during this “great tribulation” (Matthew 24:21). During “the great and the terrible day of the LORD” (Joel 2:31b), when everyday life around the world will be completely chaotic, this “remnant” of Israel, numbering in the millions, will be unexpectedly and gloriously saved for all eternity. Paul, a Jewish Christian, exults in Romans 11:26a “And so all Israel shall be saved.” Following Jesus has never been easy, but it will be even harder then. May we “rejoice” (Revelation 12:12) that the family of God continues to grow and will continue to grow, even in the worst of circumstances.
