Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
The false prophet who promotes the Antichrist will echo Satan’s mendacious message: “He spake as a dragon” (Revelation 13:11c). We find this statement about Satan in Revelation 12:9a: “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world.” We must never forget that deception is Satan’s method of operation. Jesus said of Satan’s devious approach, “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Matthew 24:24). Jesus then added, “Behold, I have told you before” (verse 25). Mankind has been clearly warned that Satan “was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44b). We are surrounded by blatant falsehood even now – and it will only become worse. We must be people of truth: “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips” (Psalm 141:3).
