Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
The second part of the heavenly hymn of Revelation 15 says, “Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? For Thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before Thee; for Thy judgments are made manifest” (verse 4). The ultimate and universal recognition of God by “all nations” is taught throughout the Bible (including Psalm 86:9; Isaiah 45:22-23; Malachi 1:11; Philippians 2:5-11). Because His “righteous acts have been revealed” (the New American Standard translation), no one will be able to claim ignorance before God. Revelation 8:9a rejoices in “a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues” that are in heaven. Clearly, since these believers come from “all” of these groups, others in those groups also have the opportunity to be saved. Those who choose to reject Jesus will still acknowledge that they are wrong: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in the earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11). May we respond in faith now to what has been “made manifest,” to what has been so openly revealed.
