Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

The Apostle John records, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He [Who] sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war” (Revelation 19:11). Jesus is “called Faithful” because He is faithful. His faithfulness is absolute and touches all areas of our lives. Hebrews 10:23 affirms that He is faithful in keeping promises: “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised).” He is faithful when we are tempted: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (I Corinthians 10:13). He also protects us from the full onslaughts of Satan: “But the Lord is faithful, Who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil” (II Thessalonians 3:3). Furthermore, He never forsakes us: “If we believe not, yet He abideth faithful: He cannot deny Himself” (II Timothy 2:13). Moreover, He ever forgives our sins: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9). The faithfulness of our Savior, like Him, possesses no limits. May we acknowledge and appreciate the fullness of His faithfulness.
