Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Revelation 19:9b adds another beatitude to this final book of the Bible: “Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.” When we think of a “marriage supper,” we picture a joyous occasion with friends and family. At “the marriage supper of the Lamb,” we are both to Jesus. In John 15:15c, Jesus emphatically states, “I have called you friends.” In Matthew 12:50, He said, “For whosoever shall do the will of My Father [Who] is in heaven, the same is My brother, and sister, and mother.” Thus, we are both kith and kin. Ephesians 1:6 includes the remarkable statement that we are “accepted in the Beloved”; that is, we are as accepted in heaven as Jesus Himself is accepted. Our Lord is assuring us that we belong and that we will eternally enjoy the full fellowship of our relationship with Him, a relationship of both friendship and family.
