Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
We began our brief study of the beatitudes in “the Revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:1) with the following: “Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book” (22:7). We drew a general theme from our Lord’s words: Jesus blesses. We did not, though, consider the specific aspects of blessing suggested by this verse. At the core is the faithfulness of Jesus in keeping all of His promises, including His return for His own. We like loyalty and fidelity in others. It is a great comfort to have folks in our lives that we can trust, that we can rely on. Certainly our Savior God, Who calls us both friends and family, is dependable in all ways. This blessing of His faithfulness can take hold of us such that we can become increasingly faithful to Him. We can actually begin to get things right – what a blessing! What an ongoing blessing!
