Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
In Revelation 19:11, the Apostle John reveals, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He [Who] sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.” The designation “True” stands in absolute contrast to the falsity of Satan and the Antichrist. Elsewhere in Scripture, John writes, “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him [Who] is true, and we are in Him [Who] is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life” (I John 5:20). The repetition of “true” reminds us that Jesus is fully God and that He is genuine in all that He says and does (not counterfeit, like the Antichrist). John also records this absolute statement of Jesus: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me” (John 14:6). Because Jesus is “the Truth,” He must speak the truth at all times, and He must act in accordance with that truth. His credibility and integrity are ever on full display. We can have full confidence in our Savior. A simple application is that the truth should matter to us and that we should strive to be people of truth.
