Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

We continue today to think about Jesus choosing to become poor such that He could then choose to make us rich (II Corinthians 8:9), particularly in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 1:3). One example of this richness is that we have our part in “the body of Christ”                   (I Corinthians 12:27). This entire chapter explores the implications of being in a relationship with Jesus and thus with other believers. The body analogy affirms that each Christian has a significant purpose in God’s plan, for just as “God hath tempered the body together” (verse 24), He has given each one of us crucial work to do. Verse 18 says, “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him.” Since it pleases God, it certainly should please us! Yes, our lives are enriched by this grand purpose, and we are further blessed by the very real fellowship that we have together (verses 23-24). We are already rich, and we are rich together.
