Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
The awesome glory of God is presented in Revelation 15:8: “And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from His power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.” No one (the meaning of “no man”) is able to enter the heavenly temple at that time. This is an overwhelming picture of the glory and majesty of our Savior God. However, it is clear that He does not want us to be overwhelmed. In Genesis 16, Hagar was driven from Abram and Sarai’s home. She fled to the wilderness, but God reassured her that she would live and that her son Ishmael would be born and blessed. Verse 13 says, “And she called the name of the LORD [Who] spake unto her, ‘Thou God seest me’: for she said, ‘Have I also here looked after Him [Who] seeth me?’” We can be certain that, even when we cannot see our Savior, He sees us – and cares for us.
