Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Everything that Jesus says makes sense. His words are never arcane, abstruse, or absurd. His language of logic has long convinced me that He is Lord. Underlying any worldly philosophy opposing Christianity is the false ideology of evolution. It is not a theory, nor is it science. Rather, it is simply speculation and bombastic blather. For example, the atheist Julian Huxley famously conjectured that a roomful of monkeys typing at random long enough would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Someone actually set up an experiment based on Huxley’s speculative idea. Of course, it was a failure: the monkeys attacked the machinery, urinated on it, and did not write even a single word. For those who would insist on more time, a few logical questions should silence them. For example, where did the monkeys and machinery come from in the first place, not to mention the room? Who keeps the monkeys alive and the machinery working? Furthermore, how did Shakespeare originate? Moreover, where did the concept of language and the ordering of words arise? Huxley’s speculation unwittingly points us to intelligent design in monkeys, machinery, housing, and language. In other words, his abject failure points us to the reasonable alternative – Jesus, “for by Him were all things created” (Colossians 1:16).
