Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Revelation 9 is a detailed prophecy of demonic activity during the Tribulation. The reality of demons might cause some to wonder if Christians can become demon-possessed. The Bible is clear that such an outcome is not possible. I Corinthians 6:19 vigorously states, “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [Who] is in you, [Who] ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” This is an absolute statement, indicating that all Christians are indwelt by God the Holy Spirit. I John 4:4b reassures us that “greater is He [the Holy Spirit] that is in you, than he [Satan] that is in the world.” For Satan to possess a Christian, he would have to dispossess God the Spirit. Satan cannot accomplish this foul feat, for the Spirit is “greater,” far “greater,” infinitely “greater.” “We are of God” (I John 4:6a); we belong to Jesus, God the Son. Not even Satan and all the demons can change that eternal fact.
