Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Our Savior God’s justice regarding Babylon is assured: “God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow’ Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God Who judgeth her” (Revelation 18:5b-8). It is a grievous error to underestimate the strength of God. Babylon will, and Babylon will be destroyed by its former allies (Revelation 17:16-18). The power of God is such that He can employ even His implacable enemies to accomplish His purposes. His almighty strength also saves anyone who simply trusts in God the Son, Jesus Christ, Who died on the Cross for all of our sins. “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save” (Zephaniah 3:17a-b). The choice is ours: will the might of God be used to judge us or to save us? May we run into the strong arms of Jesus and experience His loving, everlasting embrace.
