Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

On Tuesday, I mentioned that there are no legitimate alternatives to Jesus Christ, Who in John 14:6 made this absolute claim: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.” Other worldviews exalt man, promoting evolution and either denying the existence of God or diminishing His sovereignty. The pernicious influence of evolutionary teaching cannot be overstated. Our young people are told that evolution is settled fact when in reality it is feckless speculation. For example, when asked about the origins of matter, evolutionists speak of “infinite density.” Well, that sounds impressive, and most students would not dare to question a teacher who used it. However, it is merely a verbal smokescreen. What does it mean? It implies that matter (“density”) has always existed (“infinite”). In other words, this smug slogan literally means “nothing”; matter simply came to be from nothing! The Bible teaches that God created everything (Genesis 1). It is illogical to believe in an uncaused effect, but it is logical to believe in a caused effect. Our God is the cause of Creation; thus, trusting in Him is the reasonable thing to do.
