Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Following the universal invitation of Revelation 22:17, Jesus offers an additional warning: “For I testify [warn] unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, ‘If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book’” (verses 18-19). These are stern words, but the punishment fits the crime. God has spoken to us clearly and directly; people who ignore (II Peter 3:5) or distort (Galatians 1:6-9) this truthful message are hindering the eternal salvation of themselves and others. To obstruct others from the Gospel is evil: it is alignment with Satan (and also, in the context of Revelation, with the Antichrist). The personal decision to reject the love of Jesus is exacerbated by this aggressive attempt to thwart our Savior God’s offer to all. Let us love the Bible, and let us consistently teach it in our churches: “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17).
