Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
The Bible clearly teaches that God is the Creator of all (Genesis 1; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16, among many other passages). Even an angel from heaven proclaims, “Worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the foundations of waters” (Revelation 14:7b). Some Christians are intimidated by our culture, which believes in the non-scientific fiction of evolution, and some churches reject the Biblical teaching of creationism. However, evolutionists have no compelling arguments, just loud assertions. Only a divine and literal creation makes scientific and logical sense. First, evolution has no explanation of the origins of the pre-existing material that it must posit. Second, it cannot explain how non-living (inorganic) material somehow became living (organic). Third it cannot adequately provide a mechanism for the process of evolution. For example, survival of the fittest actually decreases the amount of DNA available rather than increases it. Fourth, evolution has no answer for the necessity of irreducible complexity, including information in each cell. Only fully formed cells can function. There are other scientific and philosophical reasons to reject the worldly worship of evolution. Really, evolution is the worship of man rather than of “Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the foundation of waters.” Creationism, then, is a necessary part of the Gospel truth.
