Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is worthy: “Thou art worthy” (verse 9), and “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain” (verse 12). No one else nor nothing else is worthy in any eternally saving way. Thus, I am not worthy. In Revelation 5, who is most like us? It is the Apostle John, a Christian who was granted the “Revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:1). However, because he was still living on earth and not yet glorified, he possessed a sin nature. When the “strong angel” asked, “Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?” (verse 2), what could John do? We find the answer in verse 4: “I wept much.” He was helpless and hopeless – that is, he was helpless and hopeless without the One Who is worthy, Jesus Christ. With Him, though, each one of us has omnipotent help and everlasting hope. May our full faith and total trust be exclusively in Jesus.
