Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Revelation 21:8 is a stern warning to all mankind: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” All people who reject Jesus’ offer of salvation fall under the sad heading of “unbelieving.” The Bible is clear that unbelief is a sin: “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God” (Hebrews 3:12). Through many ways – including general revelation, the historical accuracy of Scripture, the precise fulfillment of detailed prophecy, science (particularly the Laws of Thermodynamics and the irreducible complexity inherent at the cellular and sub-cellular level), and most powerfully in the Incarnation of God the Son, Jesus Christ – God has given us every good reason to believe. If people refuse to trust in the Savior for His eternal salvation, “they willingly [willfully] are ignorant” (II Peter 3:5) of the truth. Instead, may each of us examine the evidence, and “be not faithless, but believe” (John 20:27).
