Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Jesus keeps His promises to all nations (Genesis 12:3; Revelation 7:9-12). The “great multitude” in heaven is a fulfillment of specific promises regarding salvation. John 1:12 states, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power [the right] to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” The familiar John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” In John 6:44, Jesus said, “No man can come to Me, except the Father [Who] hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 14:2-3 speaks of heaven: “In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself: that where I am, there you may be also.” These verses (and many others) assure us that our salvation is secure and that through faith in Jesus we will be part of the thunderous throng around the throne of our Lord.
