Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

As we have been considering for more than a week, one of the most endearing characteristics of Jesus is that He answers every question, including the hardest ones. As Christians, we are sometimes daunted and even intimidated by learned skeptics. Unlike Jesus, we do not know everything. What can we do? First, the way that we live is a continuing answer to cynics. I Peter 2:15 says, “For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.” Second, even if we do not have a detailed answer to a specific question, we can tell people the most important truth of all.      I Peter 3:15 commands, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” A personal testimony will always point others to Jesus, Who said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” Jesus alone provides the ultimate, personal answer to the urgent question of eternal life. When we direct others to Him, their lives can be transformed forever. Let us then be confident in our Savior and in the salvation that He freely offers.
