Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
A crucial aspect of “the Revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:1) is that “the prayers of all saints” are “before the throne” of God (8:3-4). Prayer is one of the clearest demonstrations of our faith in God the Son, Jesus Christ. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Each time that we pray, even if it is only for a few moments, is a statement of faith. We “cometh” to God in prayer because we know certain specific things about Him. We know “that He is” – that is, that He exists, for the evidence of His existence is overwhelming. We also know “that He is a rewarder”; His very nature is to give, to give again, and to love to give. Let us then “diligently seek Him” in devoted faith.
