Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Jesus is personal, possessing a perfect personality and providing a personal touch. A poignant example of His exemplary nature is found in John 19:26-27. As Jesus was dying on the Cross, paying the full price for our sins, He spoke to the Apostle John and to His mother. Since He would no longer be available to care for His mother, He thoughtfully and lovingly provided long-term care for her. He also was considerately caring for her immediate emotional needs. Mary was suffering greatly, but Jesus was suffering far more (Matthew 27:46). Still, He put her needs ahead of His own. This personal touch from the Cross is profound. May we love Jesus even more as we think of the cost of His personal touch to us.
