Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Forgive me for so frequently speaking and writing about the logic of Christianity, but it is the logic of Jesus that is most instrumental in the sustaining of my faith in Jesus as God the Son and as the Savior. Ever since I was a young boy, I have thought about how everything fits together. When I was introduced to the existence of DNA, I quickly saw that its undeniable presence was a death blow to evolution and another compelling reason to believe the Bible, which tells us in Colossians 1:16 that by Jesus “were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things were created by Him, and for Him.” The concept of irreducible complexity, formulated in the last thirty years, correctly states that each cell must be fully functional in its structure for it to exist at all. Intrinsic to this structure is its informational structure – DNA. In simple terms, DNA tells RNA what to do with proteins within the cell. Of course, DNA and RNA are both made of proteins. What came first – DNA, RNA, or proteins? There is only one reasonable answer – God. Colossians 1:17 says of God the Son that “He is before all things.” The fact that not even one cell could exist for even a second without all of its complexity functioning fully and simultaneously is a powerful reason to believe in God as Creator. The former atheist Anthony Flew said, “The most impressive arguments for God’s existence are those that are supported by recent scientific discoveries.” I would disagree with him, for I believe that fulfilled prophecy is more compelling, but there is no doubt that Jesus is speaking personally to scientists through science.
