Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Today we close out our study of the fact that Jesus never stops. Earlier, we referenced Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” This verse assures us that Jesus never stops being Jesus. This point is obvious, but it stands in stark contrast to worldviews that oppose Christianity. For example, most people today place their faith in some form of evolution. Central to any form of evolution is chance. Often, chance or randomness is used to explain how life originated and developed. This kind of speculation is not only spiritually unsatisfactory but also intellectually dishonest, for it means that we cannot trust anything, including our thoughts about anything (including evolution!) Anything random is fundamentally unreliable. Jesus, though, never stops being Jesus.
