Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Revelation 19 presents Jesus as being overwhelming in a purely positive sense. He is overwhelming in the praise due Him (verses 1-6). He is also overwhelming in His care for His people. In verses 7-10, we find that Jesus has prepared a special place for us, in fulfillment of His specific promise in John 14:1-6. Then, He prepares a unique feast for us, “the marriage supper of the Lamb” (verse 9). We associate such a special meal with the presence of family and friends, and we are both to Jesus. In Matthew 12:50, He said, “For whosoever shall do the will of My Father [Who] is in heaven, the same is My brother, and sister, and mother.” In John 15:14, He stated, “Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” As both His family and His friends, we are “blessed” (verse 9). As terrible turmoil unfolds on earth during the Tribulation, we will be seated with Jesus and blessed by Him. Even now, as we await the consummation of our faith, Jesus is pouring out His kind care upon us. Ephesians 1:3 reminds us of this truth: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Truly our Savior is overwhelming in His concern and solicitude for each one of us today.
