Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
The fifth employment of “Almighty” in the New Testament is in Revelation 15:3-4: “And they [those gloriously saved during the Tribulation] sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, ‘Great and marvellous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints. Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? For Thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before Thee; for Thy judgments are made manifest.’” This doxology mentions a number of attributes or actions of God, including the greatness of His “works,” justice, truth, glory, and holiness. “The One Who has His hand on everything” (the meaning of “Almighty”) can handle all of these things with ease. Moreover, He is called the “King of saints.” Even in the midst of the darkest days of the Tribulation, God has His hand directly upon anyone who responds to His repeated calls. It could be that someone whom you or I know will be one of those “saints” saved at the very end. Let us rejoice that the saving purposes of our “Lord God Almighty” cannot be thwarted.
