Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

As we close our study of our Lord and Savior as the best builder of good things, the words of Hebrews 3:3 come to mind: “He Who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.” As Jesus constructs His Church, heaven, us, and others through us, we must let these good works direct us not to “the house” but to Jesus. Years ago in Sunday school, we frequently sang a song that was one of Pauline’s favorites. Its conclusion was her heart’s desire: “Let’s talk about Jesus more and more.” If we focus on the outcomes more than on our Savior, we have missed the point. May Jesus increase in what we think and do.
