Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

My wife and I have recently watched a television program called “Escape to the Chateau.” It is about a British couple who purchased a French castle and are in the process of restoring it. The husband, an engineer, does the major revisions (in accordance with his wife’s wishes, of course), and his wife, a designer, does the artistic work. They are not yet finished and, given the reality of home maintenance, probably never will be. John 14:1-6 assures us that Jesus will complete the home that He is preparing for us. I preached a sermon from this passage a few weeks ago and will not repeat it here. Note, though, the repeated use of the pronoun “I.” The personal touches that make a house a home are provided by our personal Savior, Who finishes what He begins.
