Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Revelation 7:9-12 reveals that Jesus keeps His promises not only to the nation of Israel but also to all the nations of the world. In Genesis 12:3b, God promised Abraham that “in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” This promise of a Messiah was fulfilled in God the Son, Jesus Christ. We see the results in Revelation 7: 9-10: “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; and cried with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation to our God [Who] sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.’” What a glorious scene! Each individual of this “great multitude” becomes a living – eternally living – fulfilled promise. Jesus has kept His promises to Abraham, and in so doing He keeps His promises to each Christian.
