Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Jesus never stops working in our lives, from the largest item to the littlest iota. In Matthew 19:29-31, Jesus said, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father [knowing]. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” The average person has about 140,000 hairs on his head, and God knows the exact number and location of each one. Of course, some of us make this job a bit easier, but He does not need our help! Jesus never stops caring for us, but it is easy for us to stop caring. A well-known artist wrote years ago, “When we got our first television, I stopped caring about my neighbors.” Yes, we are easily distracted, but Jesus is not. He said in Luke 21:18, “There shall not an hair of your head perish.” His statement is not just about hair; it is about care. We can be sure that Jesus cares about even the smallest things in our lives and that He is actively at work on our behalf.
