Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Jesus fills our lives with His fullness. He fills us with His perfection (Colossians 2:9-10) and fills us just in time (Galatians 4:4-7). Furthermore, Jesus is filling heaven with folks like us. Paul, a Jewish covert to Christianity, wrote the following in Romans 11:25-26: “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be brought in. And so all Israel shall be saved, as it is written, ‘There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.’” Until Jesus returns, people will be saved from their “sins” (verse 27), from the power of sin and Satan, from the fear of death, from the certainty of the second death, which is eternal separation from God (Revelation 20:11-15). We yearn for the return of Jesus, but each day’s delay means that at least one more person will be everlastingly saved. God always keeps His promises, including to the people of Israel. Yes, Jesus is filling heaven with folks like us; and it is a free, full, and forever work that He is doing.
