Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
In closing our study of the blessed fact that Jesus fills our lives with His fullness, let us consider Colossians 1:19, which states, “For it pleased the Father that in Him [Jesus] should all fulness dwell.” Two primary thoughts are suggested by this verse. First, we must insist on the full deity of Jesus. He is not inferior or subordinate; no, He is fully God. Most heretical teaching that leads to the formation of cults is based upon a denial of this foundational truth. If Jesus is not fully God, He cannot save. Since He is God, He can and does save each one that trusts in Him. Second, since it pleased God the Father that all of the fullness of God belonged to Jesus, we should be pleased as well. He has fully revealed God to us; we do not need to guess or speculate. Let us be thankful that our Savior, God the Son, has unequivocally demonstrated that God saves us from our sins unto Himself.
