Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

The eternality of Jesus assures us that He has always existed, is the same today, and is our end. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus gives us His Great Commission. He closes with the words, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world [age]. Amen.” We have the strong assurance that the “power” (verse 18) of Jesus to save has not been shortened. We are told that Jesus will not return “until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in”          (Romans 11:25), that is, until the day that the last person who will respond in faith to Jesus will be eternally saved. That might be today – “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20) – but if it is not, we can rejoice in the certainty that at least one more person will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Thus, the end of this age is merely an ushering in of eternity. Then, we will better understand and appreciate salvific power of our Savior.
