Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:1) reveals, “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, ‘Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the foundations of waters’” (Revelation 14:6-7). Another crucial part of the Christian message is that our Savior God is the Creator. Genesis 1 records a literal creation by the Triune God. The New Testament builds on this Old Testament teaching. John 1:1-3 is absolute: “In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.” Colossians 1:16 makes a similar absolute statement: “For by Him [Jesus] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or power: all things were created by Him, and for Him” Only a literal, seven-day creation is Biblical (and, of course, scientific and logical). God’s Word is, as we would expect, clear on this point, and the angel’s message during the Tribulation is further confirmation of this foundational Christian truth. Each church and each Christian must “worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the foundations of waters.”
