Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Our Savior God always listens to us. No one else can do that – and no one else wants to! Revelation 8:1-4 brings us into the presence of our Lord in heaven. Verse 3 speaks of “the prayers of all saints”; verse 4 tells us that these “prayers of the saints, ascended up before God.” Thus, we can be certain that our words are important to Jesus. Moreover, we are assured that He will “bow down” or “incline” His ears to hear us (Psalm 17:6; 31:2; 71:2; 86:1; 102:2). The picture is of God getting as close to us as possible so that we can be confident that not even one syllable will slip away. We have previously studied that Jesus speaks to us. Since He also listens to us, we can see that His relationship with us is a full and warm one. May we be humbled and encouraged that our Master desires to have such rich personal fellowship with each one of us.
