Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:1) reveals the eternal state and condition of each believer. Revelation 21:5 provides something of a summary: “And He [Who] sat upon the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said unto me [John], ‘Write: for these words are true and faithful!” The word “new” refers to that which is fresh in character and that which is recently made. There will be no need for a new creation after this event occurs. However, there will be new creative expressions of the nature of God. For example, both Revelation 5:9 and 14:3 speak of a “new song” in heaven. The context makes it clear that each song is distinct. The joining of millions of different people, each with a distinctive personality, will provide an exciting freshness to our heavenly interactions; and the ongoing creativity of our Savior will bless us and intrigue us forever.
