Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

The music of heaven includes “the song of the Lamb” (Revelation 15:3). This hymn is even greater than “the song of Moses,” which focuses on Israel’s miraculous exodus from Egypt. “The song of the Lamb” celebrates eternal deliverance from sin. Revelation 5:8-9 records the words of “a new song” about Jesus as the Lamb: “Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” This song of redemption records God’s ultimate victory in delivering each believer from Satan’s malicious and malignant grip into the everlasting embrace of the Savior. In heaven, the fullness of this salvation will be experienced by each believer, and each believer will enjoy that personal deliverance. Together, we will sing “the song of the Lamb.”
