Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

As we studied last week, Jesus fills our lives with His fullness. He fills us with His perfection (Colossians 2:9-10), fills us just in time (Galatians 4:3-7), is filling heaven with people like us (Romans 11:25-26), and fills us with good things like love (Ephesians 3:19), unity (Ephesians 4:13), and comfort (II Corinthians 7:4). Another good thing is found in Philippians 1:11, where we find that we are “being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” Romans 1:29 tells us that without Jesus we are “filled with all unrighteousness.” With Jesus, we have the blessing of being able – really, enabled – to do the right thing. What encouragement! Yes, Jesus has filled our lives with good things so that we can actually do good things, the right things, “unto the glory and praise of God.”
