Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Not everything here on earth delivers exactly what is promised. A local restaurant advertised on its big outdoor sign “NEW ICE CREAM FLOVORS TURKEY DUINNER LASAGNA.” Enjoy your dessert! The owners perhaps needed a review of basic grammar. Jesus, however, always keeps His promises, for He finishes what He starts. Matthew 28:1-10 records the Resurrection of Jesus. The angel there reminded the women that He had risen from the dead “as He said” (verse 6). Jesus had been very specific about rising from the dead, telling His disciples in Matthew 16:21, 17:23, and 20:19 that He would complete His work of salvation in this way. He finished His Resurrection just as He had promised, for Jesus always finishes what He starts.
