Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Jesus loves family, and He loves our families, as we studied yesterday. It is logical, then, that He also loves our church family. Hebrews 10:23-25 is one passage that speaks of the value of a church family. We are to “consider one another to provoke [stir up] unto love and to good works” (verse 24). It is hard to hold on alone: we need each other to “hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering” (verse 23). One way that we fulfill this high and holy calling is to meet together in worship (verse 25). Jesus gives us a church family; it is a precious gift from Him. Moreover, He is a part of our church family, “for He is faithful that promised” (verse 23). May we increasingly love what Jesus loves, including our church family.
