Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

The sad refusal of people to repent during the time of the Tribulation (Revelation 9:20-21) is sobering. With all of the evidence available, such a rejection of the sure and tender mercies of Jesus is nonsensical. At our very core, we are prideful and find it hard to admit guilt and need. Proverbs 16:18 famously states, “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” All of the book of Revelation, including chapter 9, is a thorough exposition of this truth. Yes, it is hard to confess, “I was wrong.” However, it is harder, much harder, infinitely harder, to spend eternity in hell, separate from the everlasting love of God. There are no good reasons to spurn the salvation of our Savior, only spurious excuses.
