Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

Before we move on to Revelation 15, I want to consider one more brief thought about the revealed beauty of Jesus Christ. Offering salvation to all, personally saving anyone who will trust in Him, and always demonstrating absolute holiness, He tells us all that we need to know and shows us how utterly distinct He is from us. A prevailing attitude of the world is summed up in the brief statement, “Be yourself.” This is perhaps the worst advice a person can receive (or give)! Because Jesus cares about us, He offers no such hollow platitudes. Rather, He desires to transform us now and forever. His best for our worst is the exchange that He wants to make, “to give unto them beauty for ashes” (Isaiah 61:3b). May His beauty rest upon us as we trust in Him and love Him.
