Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus

Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)

As we have been studying for some time, “the Revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:1) reveals that His holiness (3:7; 4:8) is purely positive. We read in Revelation 4:6 that “before the throne was a sea of glass like unto crystal.” Our Lord’s holiness ensures that He is as clear as crystal; that is, there is nothing hidden in Him. His holiness reveals the fullness of His character, and in Him we find no hidden agendas, no ulterior motives, no nuances (nuances being especially a trait of postmodernists). The contrast with the canards of conmen, cabals, cultists, and CDC connivers, is complete. What does Jesus want for us? First, He desires that we live with Him forever by trusting in Him for His salvation. Second, He is interested in our living differently now, living in a way that is good for us and for others. Third, He wants us to be involved in serving Him and helping to draw unbelievers to Him. Of course, He is doing many other things as well – and He does “all things well” (Mark 7:37), for He is holy.
