Jaw-dropping Jewels about Jesus
Rarely does Jesus, God the Son, do exactly what we expect of Him. It seems odd that He so frequently surprises us, given that He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 makes this absolute statement: “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Still, though He is blessedly consistent in His goodness, Jesus does unforeseen things. Even when He does what is expected, He does not always do it in the way that we anticipate. Let us join with Jesus on a jaw-dropping journey. (I will be using this opening paragraph for each of the brief messages in this series. The following material will change daily.)
Our Lord is holy: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, [Who] was, and is, and is to come” (Revelation 4:8). As we close this study, we see that our salvation is eternally secure because of our Savior’s holiness. His wholly holy nature assures us that He will never do wrong by us. Specifically, Hebrews 12:14 says, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” This warning is also a promise: if we “follow…holiness,” we will “see the Lord.” Because we are given God’s holiness when we trust in God the Son, Jesus Christ, we thus have His assurance that we will be with Him in heaven. In fact, we will join with the multitudes of angels and the redeemed round about the throne, offering praise and thanksgiving. Revelation 19:5-6 rejoices, “And a voice came out of the throne, saying, ‘Praise our God, all ye His servants, and ye that fear [reverence] Him, both small and great.’ And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of many thunderings, saying, ‘Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.’” Because of the absolute holiness of our Savior we can be absolutely sure that we “shall see the Lord.”
